When the owners of this Manhattan apartment approached us, they envisioned more than just a renovation. Their home needed to become a space of calm, clarity, and intention. Through a full gut renovation, we transformed a dated residence into a modern apartment, a quiet reflection of their desire for thoughtful living, timeless design, and elevated simplicity.
The first act of transformation began with the layout. By relocating the kitchen into a newly opened living space, we introduced flow and fluidity to the apartment’s heart. The kitchen now functions as both centerpiece and backdrop, framed by bespoke millwork that discreetly conceals appliances and storage. This move, along with the conversion of the original primary suite into a dramatic dining room, set the tone for a home designed around light, movement, and purpose, a hallmark of contemporary soft-minimal design.

Previously overlooked areas found new life. A compact corridor became a bespoke home office; a former storage nook evolved into a sleek, private gym. These design gestures reflect a larger theme of optimization, maximizing space without overcrowding it. Throughout the apartment, textures of wood, blackened steel, plaster, and veined marble lend quiet depth to each room, expressing a soft contrast that’s at once modern and enduring.
The new primary suite marks a moment of retreat. Its dual walk-in closets offer both luxury and function, while the spa-like bathroom, centered around a freestanding soaking tub with sweeping eastern views, embodies the spirit of rest and ritual. Every inch was considered. Bespoke details like recessed handrails, flush baseboards, and discreetly hidden doors allow the material palette to take center stage, enhancing a sense of quiet precision and tactile harmony.
